Isles beat Flames 1-0 in OT
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Josh Bailey scored with 18 seconds left in overtime, Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves, and the New York Islanders rallied past the Calgary Flames.
Thomas Hickey also scored as the Islanders improved to 3-0-0 on their season-high seven-game stretch of road games and remained three points behind the second-place New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.
Jiri Hudler scored for Calgary, which fell to 1-5-1 in its last seven.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Frans Nielsen scored twice, John Tavares had a goal and an assist, and New York topped Minnesota in a matchup of surging teams.
Matt Martin also scored for New York, which has won six of eight. Jaroslav Halak made 30 saves as the Islanders improved to 2-0 on a seven-game road trip — their longest of the season.
Nielsen deflected Tavares' pass on the power play to make it 2-0 in the first period and added a short-handed, empty-net goal late in the third.
Devan Dubnyk made 27 saves as the Wild lost for the first time in five games under interim coach John Torchetti. Chris Porter had his fourth goal of the season for Minnesota, which had scored at least five goals in the four previous games with Torchetti behind the bench.

Islanders defeat Devils 1-0 in Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Casey Cizikas scored a lucky early goal, Jaroslav Halak had 27 saves and the New York Islanders opened a season-long, seven-game trip with a 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.
Halak was outstanding and had a little help from the post while getting his third shutout. Reid Boucher's 1-on-1 chance in the first period hit iron, but Halak also made great saves in close against Sergey Kalinin, Kyle Palmieri and Lee Stempniak, the last one a pad save early in the third period when the Devils' forward had a seemingly open net.
The Islanders are in third place in the Metropolitan Division, four points ahead of the fifth-place Devils with two games in hand.

Islanders lose to Capitals 3-2 in OT
NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Williams scored 4:16 into overtime to lift the Washington Capitals over the New York Islanders 3-2 on Thursday night.
Alex Ovechkin scored twice in a 1:27 span early in the second period and Braden Holtby stopped 20 shots for the Capitals to get his league-leading 36th win of the season. The Capitals beat the Islanders for the third time in three meetings this season and ninth in the last 12 (9-1-2).
Washington, which leads the NHL with 88 points, won for the fifth time in six games and improved to 15-3-2 against Metropolitan Division teams.

Tavares scores 20th of season as Isles beat Kings 5-2

NEW YORK — John Tavares scored his 20th goal of the season and had an assist in the Islanders' 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.
Islanders goaltender Thomas Greiss stopped 28 shots in the game.
Johnny Boychuk, Casey Cizikas and Anders Lee all scored in the first period and Travis Hamonic added an empty-netter in the third to help the Islanders win their third straight game and their third straight in a row at home.
Kyle Clifford and Milan Lucic scored for the Kings, and Kings goaltender Jhonas Enroth made 25 saves.
John Tavares clearly wants to score more goals. Just read what he said after the game:
"I just want more. I don't want to stop [at 20 goals]," Tavares said. "Hopefully 20 more would be great to help this team out. We just have to keep going off the momentum, one game at a time. That's what's important. This time of year, so much hockey, we are playing so many teams and points are crucial, so we want to keep going."
