NEW YORK — John Tavares scored his 20th goal of the season and had an assist in the Islanders' 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Islanders goaltender Thomas Greiss stopped 28 shots in the game.

Johnny Boychuk, Casey Cizikas and Anders Lee all scored in the first period and Travis Hamonic added an empty-netter in the third to help the Islanders win their third straight game and their third straight in a row at home.

Kyle Clifford and Milan Lucic scored for the Kings, and Kings goaltender Jhonas Enroth made 25 saves.

John Tavares clearly wants to score more goals. Just read what he said after the game:

"I just want more. I don't want to stop [at 20 goals]," Tavares said. "Hopefully 20 more would be great to help this team out. We just have to keep going off the momentum, one game at a time. That's what's important. This time of year, so much hockey, we are playing so many teams and points are crucial, so we want to keep going."
